Creating an impact on 28th May is all about addressing Menstrual Health and Hygiene. Giving Menstrual Education to over 210 school children and free donation of sanitary pads to 65 less privileged girls of menstrual age.
Addressing poor menstrual hygiene due to lack of education on the issue, persistent taboos, and stigma surrounding periods, due to COVID-19 limited access to menstrual products and poor sanitation infrastructure undermine the educational opportunities, and health of women and girls around Cameroon. Due to the crisis, millions of women and girls are kept from reaching their full potentials. Menstrual Hygiene Day is a perfect day to join our voices with the rest of the world to promote good menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) for all women and girls.
Breaking the silence raises awareness and changes negative social norms around periods.
We call on decision-makers to increase the political priority and catalyze action for MHH, at national and local levels.
Katchoua Foundation focuses on impact, not a name.
Katchoua Foundation Menstrual Hygiene Day(KF-MHD) initiators are helping to do away with the stigma surrounding periods.
We say:
-YES to a world where every woman and girl is empowered to manage her menstruation safely, hygienically, with confidence, and without shame
-Yes to the menstrual product of their choice
-Period stigma is history
-Menstruation includes boys and men
-Yes to more investment in menstrual health and hygiene NOW!
