KF Menstrual Hygiene Day is a program run by Katchoua Foundation monthly that delivers sanitary pads and health education to orphans (in orphanages), less privileged and underprivileged girls from poor social and economic backgrounds to make sure that periods do not get in the way of girls right to education.
Katchoua Foundation supports these girls with free pads to help reduce absenteeism from school leading to poor performance.
KF-MHD Objectives
The project aims to;
- Educate teenage girls on puberty, menstrual hygiene, and how to physically and psychologically handle such periods.
- Eliminate the myths, taboos, and misinformation that people in communities have about girls during their menstrual period.
- Help girls understand their reproductive and sexual health options.
- Keep girls from missing school due to their periods.
