World Menstrual Hygiene Day: Break the Silence, Empower Girls with Katchoua Foundation!
Today, on World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we celebrate the power of education and action in building a #PeriodFriendlyWorld!
In Cameroon, many girls experience shame and isolation due to the cultural stigma surrounding periods. This, as many of you know, can lead to a lack of proper hygiene education and hinder their education.
Katchoua Foundation isn’t waiting for change. We’re making it happen.
Our Menstrual Hygiene Day program (KF-MHD) is a monthly initiative that provides free sanitary pads and crucial menstrual hygiene education to girls from underprivileged backgrounds.
Here’s how KF-MHD empowers girls:
- Breaks the cycle of silence: We educate girls on puberty, hygiene practices, and how to manage periods with confidence.
- Combats misinformation: We dispel myths and taboos surrounding menstruation, fostering a healthier understanding.
- Empowers girls to stay in school: By providing access to sanitary pads, we help reduce period-related absenteeism and ensure education doesn’t stop.
- Promotes sexual and reproductive health awareness: We equip girls with knowledge about their bodies and reproductive health options.
We can’t do this alone!
Katchoua Foundation relies on passionate volunteers and community support to keep this program thriving.
